Bettina Rheims Eternally In-between

Art Press - - L’INTERVIEW -

Bettina Rheims is rarely shown in Paris but the Maison Européenne de la Photographie is devoting three floors to her work since she began in the late 1970s, 180 photos in all (January 27-March 27). Her output is controversial; it leaves no one indifferent. As is demonstrated by this retrospective and its companion book published by Taschen, Rheims is distinguished by her ability to carry out both personal projects and advertising and other commission shoots with equal interest and equanimity.
