Sump­tu­ous­ness was also a word as­so­ci­ated with this fête which seated guests in an orange tent which had pre­vi­ously been used for the King of Spain’s wed­ding, dec­o­rated with 16th and 17th Dutch mas­ter­pieces, 100 crys­tal chan­de­liers and tulips flown in from Am­s­ter­dam on the day, all in ac­knowl­edge­ment of the na­tion­al­ity of the own­ers. Sadly Eric Jel­gersma was un­able to at­tend fol­low­ing a se­ri­ous ac­ci­dent just weeks be­fore­hand, but in­sisted that the shown should go on.
