Sells "Snow Queen" to a number of territories
WIZART ANIMATION, one of the leading animation studios in Russia, has closed new deals during the Marché du Film. The third installment of the franchise The Snow Queen 3: Fire and Ice (2016), announced at the opening of the Marché du Film, has sold to Shooting Stars for countries in the Middle East, where the movie will have day-and-date release in 2016; all rights for Baltic States have sold to ACME Film; and all rights for Turkey to Medyavizyon. Cinema Republic has acquired all rights including theatrical, for South Koreaand the film has also sold to Middle East, Baltic States, Turkey. Sheep and Wolves (2016) theatrical rights have sold to Bulgaria and Baltic States; and Urfin and His Wooden Soldiers (2016) has sold to South Korea and Baltic States. Wizart’s projects were presented at the Russian Cinema stand, organised by Cinema Fund of Russia. Both installments of The Snow Queen franchise have already been released in more than 80 territories. Earlier at the Marché du Film all rights for The Snow Queen (2012) and The Snow Queen II (2014) were acquired by Barton Films for Spain and by Bollywood Films for Pakistan – marking the first time that a Russian will be released theatrically in Pakistan. According to Joe Mirza CEO of Bollywood Films: “These films are of a very high standard and they can compete with any of the other product in the market at the moment.” This year The Snow Queen 2 will also enjoy release in the US, with all rights acquired by Entertainment One; the Benelux countries, with all rights acquired by Just4kids; the Czech Republic and Slovakia (all with all rights acquired by ITA Film. The film will also be released in France, Germany, Brazil, China, Japan, Malaysia, Bulgaria, Indonesia and Thailand.
