RUS­SIAN OLYMPIC RE­SORT OF SOCHI TO WEL­COME IN­TER­NA­TIONAL FILM FES­TI­VAL

THE SOCHI In­ter­na­tional Film Fes­ti­val (Siff) is a new an­nual event, tak­ing place in the Olympic re­sort of Sochi in the Rus­sian Fed­er­a­tion. The new event was an­nounced in Cannes by Roskino, the body formerly known as Sov­ex­port­film, which pro­motes Rus­sian film around the world. De­signed to broaden the in­ter­na­tional au­di­ence for Rus­sian film, the fes­ti­val also aims to stim­u­late col­lab­o­ra­tion and co-or­di­na­tion be­tween Rus­sia and Bri­tish and Euro­pean film­mak­ers. Di­rec­tors, screen­writ­ers, ac­tors, ed­i­tors, and com­posers will also re­ceive in­ter­na­tional recog­ni­tion through a se­ries of com­pe­ti­tions and awards. Its Irida Stat­uette is the high­est award given to win­ners in the com­pe­ti­tions and all Irida win­ners will go on to par­tic­i­pate at the Rain­dance Film Fes­ti­val in Lon­don. Pres­i­dent and founder of Siff is film pro­ducer, screen­writer and au­thor Dr. Luba Balagova. Artis­tic di­rec­tor and pres­i­dent of the Se­lec­tion Com­mit­tee is au­thor and film di­rec­tor Mohy Quan­dour. The fes­ti­val will be held an­nu­ally from De­cem­ber 10 to 16 at the Sochi Radis­son Blu Par­adise Re­sort & Spa.
