Listed in 1999 In De­cem­ber 1999, the ju­ris­dic­tion of Saint-emil­ion and its 7,846 hectares, in­clud­ing 5,400 hectares of vines, were of­fi­cially listed as a UNESCO World Her­itage site in the cat­e­gory of “cul­tural land­scapes”. The au­then­tic sym­bio­sis of the earth, men and their in­cred­i­bly rich con­struc­tions pre­vailed in ob­tain­ing this dis­tinc­tion.
