PARC DES SPORTS SAINT-MICHEL

Charming Bordeaux - - THE DISTRICTS OF BORDEAUX -

4

Located beside the Garonne between the ‘pont de pierre’ and quai Sainte-croix, it offers a vast grass-covered space, a place to walk and to relax and numerous free-to-access sports areas. A place particularly appreciated by Bordeaux’s locals on the weekend and in summer. Rue Porte de la Monnaie - C > Saint-michel

5 PLACE PIERRE RENAUDEL

A village square in the middle of the city. An ancient paved street with a small square shaded by plane trees, an old church, shopfronts with old-fashioned slogans and café terraces from another time... An atmosphere of artists and students emanates from this place, with Fine Arts, classical music and journalism schools, and the many café-théatres. It is also the location of the well-known, trendsetting TNBA (National Theatre of Bordeaux-aquitaine). Place Pierre Renaudel - C > Sainte-croix

6 ABBATIALE SAINTE-CROIX

There is a Romanesque facade in the rather surprising Saintongeais style, its modern left tower and central portal are decorated with sculptures representing greed and lust. The oldest church in Bordeaux is best known for its Dom Bedos pipe organ, an 18th century masterpiece of its genre. Place Pierre Renaudel - C > Sainte-croix Open daily

7 JARDIN DES REMPARTS

Of the 5 kilometres of defensive walls that protected Bordeaux in the 14th century, only portions of the ramparts are still visible. Two such locations are here and on rue Peyronnet. The vestiges of artillery terraces, ramparts and arrow slits give character to this hanging garden-promenade, formerly connected to the Capucins convent. Rue des Douves - B > Victoire Daily 8:30 a.m to 6:30 p.m

8 HALLE DU MARCHÉ DES DOUVES

The originality of the rehabilitation of this cast-iron market hall from the 19th century was the addition of a clearly identifiable contemporary structure contained within the central corridor. The two structures are fully independent. Dedicated to events and exhibitions. 4 rue des Douves - B > Victoire +33 (0)5 24 57 65 60 - www.douves.org
