A DAY WITH THE MISSONIS
This spring issue resembles the day that we spent at the Missonis, in their fiefdom an hour outside Milan: the small town of Varese, birthplace of the famous, instantly recognizable Raschel knit. We were welcomed into the inspiringcreativeatmosphereofthefamilyhomebyMargherita, oneofItaly’s foremostItgirls, whohasjustbecomeamotherforthesecondtime. She’sthe ultimate embodiment of a subtle mix of tradition and trendiness.
The whole clan turned out for our photo shoot: her girlfriends’ young daughters who came to play at being models for the day, plus her mother, sister, husbandandtwolittleboys!Thefamilyhome, withitsterrazzofloorthat seemedtoshimmeraswe constantlymovedtoandfro, housesafascinating whirlwind of life. All around us, the children laughed and chattered away in Italian. The day we were there was Rosita’s birthday and she was going to celebrate it with her employees at the Missoni factory. We gave our stamp of approval to the piece of jewellery that Margherita had bought online as a gift for her grandmother.
