How do you rec­on­cile your pro­fes­sional life with your pri­vate life? — M.: Pretty well, thanks to our quasi-mil­i­tary-style or­ga­ni­za­tion pol­icy! With four chil­dren, it’s hard to im­pro­vise… Ju­lia leaves early in the morn­ing in the car to be at Good Goût in the eighth ar­rondisse­ment of Paris in a quar­ter of an hour. I get break­fast for the chil­dren and take the train at 8.15am. We get back home in the evening around 7pm or 8pm for din­ner. In the mean­time, Amanda, our won­der­ful 24-yearold Amer­i­can au pair takes over. She’s been sav­ing our lives for the past year. Ju­lia is also home on Wed­nes­day af­ter­noons. What’s your se­cret for main­tain­ing the balance? — M: It all boils down to or­ga­ni­za­tion. But then we also prac­tise sport, do some gar­den­ing to clear our heads and, above all, have an aper­i­tif to­gether just the two of us ev­ery evening… hence the sport to com­pen­sate and clean out our sys­tem!
