Burge Gård Faludden An hour and a half from Visby, in the south of the island, Burg Gård Faludden is a wonderfully peaceful place to stay for a few days. Fully renovated by Anders and Birgitta, the property is adjacent to a bird reserve and 800 metres from a deserted beach. Next to the splendid family home, the large glasshouse sometimes hosts weddings beside a flower garden (with a tree-house for the kids) and a kitchen garden that feeds the whole family in summer. In his workshop near the huge barn, divided up between their three children, Anders makes furniture out of Gotland oak. Malin has finished renovating her third of the barn and visits her parents as often as she can with daughter Bonnie. A true car boot sale fiend, she has put the finishing touches to the interior decor: rattan swing chairs, vintage wooden horse, linen cushions… This authentic, child-friendly refuge can be rented in summer and is ideal for getting a taste of Scandinavian slow life. faceden/ Körsbärsgården A sunny day in Körsbärsgården starts with a visit to an exhibition with

hands-on activities for children, then lunch outside on the café terrace, and finally a game of chase in the park in and out of the brightly coloured sculptures. korsbarsgar Bargains galore If you go through the town of Hemse, pop into the second-hand stores Röda Korset and Kuriåsa for clothes, furniture and typically Scandinavian decorative objects…
