“I ap­proa­ched the Ricard Prize by trying not to think too much about a group, a trend or a theme. First I tried to iso­late prac­tices that I li­ked. For Pa­ris – my title for the 18th Ricard Prize in 2016 – I fi­na­li­zed the choice of eight ar­tists by crea­ting sets. Where vi­deo was concer­ned, I got the im­pres­sion there was so­me­thing po­li­ti­cal going on. That’s why I ad­ded Clé­ment Co­gi­tore, along­side Cla­risse Hahn and Ma­rie Voi­gnier. Li­ke­wise, there was al­so this com­mon concern for images of the contemporary world and their cir­cu­la­tion – you see it in the work of Will Be­ne­dict and Ju­lien Cré­pieux, for example. But with sculp­ture, one axis concer­ned the change of scale and the cir­cu­la­tion of works through the space, as de­mons­tra­ted by put­ting
