PENN CLASH 6000

The two biggest fish of the trip were caught on the spinning rod, using this reel. Its powerful drag did a great job on stopping these big fish when they tried to take advantage of the river’s current. The handle is comfortable, even during long fights. Also, the bail is very thick and strong, that can be important on rivers where you’re likely to slip and fall on rocks every day while wading, and damage your reel.

BERKLEY FIRELINE 8 CARRIER

Smooth casting and good abrasion resistance. We used 54lb braid on our spinning reel and the braid performed very well. In fact, a big mahseer got the braid stuck under a rock in the middle of the river for five minutes. After reeling the fish in, the guide checked all my braid and it didn’t even have the smallest nick!

BKK LONE DIABLO HOOKS

Mahseers are brutal with hooks. These were recomended by the Himalayan Outback staff and they performed very well. Although we used crushed barbs only, No fish were lost nor any hooks bent. The small ring helps greatly for putting split rings on. Recomended sizes for mahseer : 1/0, 2/0 and 3/0.
