MASDAR, A FLAGSHIP CITY OF THE FUTURE
Built totally from scratch in the middle of the desert, the city of Masdar near
Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) is a real-life laboratory for the city of the future. Created by the Masdar Institute
(an outstanding research institute in the digital city sphere) in conjunction with the MIT, the project was launched in 2008 and should be finalized this year. Designed to accommodate 40,000 people, this "zero-carbon" city produces no non-recyclable waste and even has its sights set on producing renewable energy.
