ART DUBAI 11TH EDITION THE MONTPELLIER BOUTOGRAPHIES FESTIVAL
At the crossroads of diversity and burgeoning artistic activity in that region of the world, Dubai is the most significant art capital of the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. It is an international repute, which has managed to find recognition by allying with Art Dubai, a leading annual art fair, whose 11th edition will take place from March 15 to 18, 2017. In 2016, this must-see event celebrated its ten years with the participation of 500 artists, 94 galleries from 40 countries, and a public of around 30,000 visitors, curators, collectors and specialists from all over the world. In addition to exhibitions, Art Dubai also features film projections and performances, as well as a not-for-profit program, which includes grants, artists’ and curators’ residencies, educational workshops, and more. Also worth mentioning is the Abraaj Group Art Prize, sponsored by the fair’s namesake partner, as well as the hugely popular debates at the Global Art Forum. From May 6 to 28, 2017, the city of Montpellier in the south of France is celebrating young, emerging talent of European photography. Since its 2001 inception in the historical student district of Boutonnet, Association Grain d'Image has organized the Boutographies Festival, which has grown furiously ever since. Relocated for the last two years to the Panacée Art Center, the photographers of tomorrow will gather in the 600 square-metre Pavillion Populaire on the Charles de Gaulle Esplanade. For the 17th edition, the organizers have envisioned 3 compelling weeks of exhibitions, openings, and artist talks, but also a roster of prestigious awards.
