MOST EXTENSIVE ALEXANDER GIRARD TO DATE

The Pullman Magazine - - Places And People To Love -

Until January 29, 2017, the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany, is showing the works of Italian-American Alexander Girard. He is a key 20th-century artist of more than 300 textile designs (for American furniture designer Herman Miller, among others), fabulous concepts from corporate building interiors to everyday industrial objects, logos and brand identities for major companies (John Deere, the legendary Braniff International Airways), and much more. His first extensive retrospective, A Designer’s Universe, revisits the work of a most remarkable and versatile artist—especially his prolific period from the 1950s to the 1970s, as well as his intimate passion for colours and folklore. An El Dorado for pop art enthusiasts, the exhibition includes a broad selection of the celebrated textile, furniture and interior designs, as well as many never before shown.
