And you filmed the per­for­mance?

Ex­cept that doc­u­ment­ing this type of process is usu­ally im­pos­si­ble. It's so hot, 2400 de­grees, and so bright that your eyes start to see only a white line, there is no more color or struc­ture. So we brought this 70 kg, 4k res­o­lu­tion, ul­tra-high­def­i­ni­tion cam­era from Hol­ly­wood to Liver­pool. It cap­tures 2000 frames per sec­ond so we were able - I had a crew of ten peo­ple - to cap­ture the 3D steel trans­for­ma­tion and turn it into a 2D film. The ho­tel guests could then “fall” into this film on the tele­vi­sion of their rooms when they turned on the chan­nel with the per­for­mance, for a strik­ing el­e­ment of sur­prise.
