Alpine Exposures

Vertical (English) - - Euronews - Jon Griffith, Alpine Exposures, Vertebrate Publishing, 286 pages.

Mountaineering exposed in every form in this magnificent book by Jon Griffith. For the last few years he has been among the most active alpinists in Chamonix. He has climbed an incredible number of routes of all levels, some routes in a new innovative mixed style, or simply trotting up major classis with Ueli Steck. Quick and efficient, Jon never leaves the ground without his camera, and the results show: his unique style captures the action without halting it.The reader is right there with him on the key sections of difficult routes such as No Siesta, or on classic routes such as the Kuffner ridge on Mont Maudit. We return to the Charmoz-Grépon (often photographed), with the privilege of enjoying those exceptional moments where the light intensifies the action, the human presence, always moving but fragile, somewhat out of place in this immense and magical universe. Readers will never tire of flipping through the pages of this book, and perhaps someday Jon will publish a volume dedicated to his expeditions. The text is in English, French, and German.
