Himalaya, Les tribulations de Mick et Vic
By Mick, we mean Fowler. And by Vic, Saunders.Victor Saunders. In 1987, these two strapping lads opened a masterpiece in alpine style climbing in the Himalayas:The Spantik pillar, known as the Golden Pillar, on Karakoram. Two thousand metres of dreamlike pillar, that takes on a golden hue every evening the sun shines above the Hunza valley. They decided on their expeditions in a London pub. One evening, a member of one of these late encounters pointed to a map of Pakistan: the Hunza valley. Its particularity: the presence of a road, known as the Karakoram Highway, and of one to two-day approach walks. El Dorado for these climbers who could only travel during their summer holidays...Their story goes on... but, here, they talk of their early days.
