BRITAIN GOES TO THE POLLS

A general election for the UK ( to go to the polls to vote in an election)

Vocable (All English) - - À La Une -

Just after having assumed her role as Prime Minister, Theresa May was adamant there would be no general election before 2020. Then, on 18 April, she declared an early election for June 8 of this year. Her explanation for the u-turn is that she needs a strong mandate to negotiate Britain’s withdrawal from Europe.
