AMERICAN DREAMERS

Vocable (All English) - - Le Dessin -

Last month, President Trump announced his decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy (DACA). This program gives temporary immigration status to people who were brought to the United States illegally as children. It allows them to live, study and work legally in America without fear of deportation. 800,000 people, known as the “Dreamers”, are currently protected under DACA. Most of them are from Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras and range in age from 15 to 36, according to the White House. Donald Trump has now put their fate in the hands of Congress, asking its members to come up with a solution to replace the program within six months. Following the decision, thousands of Dreamers took to the streets in protest as they are now facing an uncertain future.
