Alfresco Dining

Where Paris - - Dining -

Set in an exquisitely manicured park of velvety green lawns, flower-filled gardens and ancient shade trees, Auberge des Templiers is one of the most legendary hotels in France. It was one of the original Relais & Chateaux hotels and was for many years the first stop of happy Parisians heading south for sunny holidays on the Route N7, often called “La Route du Soleil”. This delightful hotel is a brilliant address just out of Paris for the pleasure of its setting and also the cuisine of its talented chef, Japanese born Yoshihiko Miura. The best value here is the Signature Menu for 135 euros, which begins with hors d’oeuvres, and continues with dressed crab with avocado, yuzu and curry oil, followed by sea bass with Sologne caviar in a Marinière sauce, grilled lamb with bean sprouts and red onions, an excellent cheese trolley, and a dessert of your choosing. And during the summer months they have a day-day-tariff for anyone who wants to come idle in the garden, paddle around in the pool and lunch on the superb Japanese food served by their summer poolside pop-up restaurant from 11am to 6pm daily. – A.L.
