A Mem­o­rable Mo­ment with the MoMA

A land­mark ex­hi­bi­tion is be­ing played out at the Fon­da­tion Louis Vuit­ton in the Bois de Boulogne on the western edge of town. En­ti­tled Etre Mod­erne: Le MoMA à Paris (Be­ing Mod­ern, the MoMA in Paris), the ex­hi­bi­tion show­cases a se­lec­tion of 200 works from the un­par­al­leled col­lec­tion of the Mu­seum of Mod­ern Art in New York. The show is cu­rated jointly by the MoMA and the Fon­da­tion Louis Vuit­ton and pre­sents a se­lec­tion of works in myr­iad medi­ums, from all six of MoMA’s de­part­ments, re­flect­ing the his­tory of the in­sti­tu­tion and its way of col­lect­ing. The show brings to­gether paint­ings, sculp­tures, draw­ings, prints, pho­to­graphs, films, me­dia works, per­for­mances as well as ar­chi­tec­ture and de­sign ob­jects, trac­ing the evo­lu­tion and scope of the mu­seum’s col­lec­tion. Etre Mod­erne fea­tures ma­jor works by artists in­clud­ing Max Beck­mann, Alexan­der Calder, Paul Cézanne, Mar­cel Duchamp, Walker Evans, Jasper Johns, Ernst Lud­wig Kirch­ner, Gus­tav Klimt, Yayoi Kusama, René Magritte, Pablo Pi­casso and Paul Signac.
