The timeless, carefully crafted creations of the late fashion designer Azzedine Alaïa are being showcased in the Marais venue where he lived and worked and which now houses the Association Azzedine Alaïa. The show, entitled Azzedine Alaïa, I Am a Couturier, brings together some 41 major works by the designer selected by Olivier Saillard, the art historian and former director of the Palais Galliera, the city’s fashion museum. “Azzedine Alaïa chose to place his profession within the great tradition of the architect couturiers of the 20th century who mastered every step in the conception and fashioning of a piece of clothing from the pattern to the assembly. He is the ultimate heir to Madeleine Vionnet, Cristóbal Balenciaga and Charles James,” explains Olivier Saillard. Showing through to June 10th 18 rue de la Verrerie (4th), 01 42 74 49 66
