Where Paris - - Dining Restaurants -

With a kitchen run by a female Thai chef named Jay and two French chefs who learned the country’s cooking while working at l’Atelier de Joël Robuchon in Bangkok, Yaai Thai is a lively new restaurant in the heart of Paris that specialises in Thai street food. The idea of this table with a colourful décor that recalls the little stalls, which serve up fast, delicious food along the streets of most large Thai towns, is to bring these richly flavoured and deeply satisfying dishes to Paris and propose them at easy-on-the-wallet prices. Over thirtyfive different dishes are available on the menu, ranging from such classics as Pad Thai, rice noodles sautéed in soy and tamarind sauce with your choice of prawns, beef, chicken or vegetables, to gaeng keow wan, a luscious green vegetarian curry containing beans, courgettes, red and green peppers, Thai aubergines, basil and bamboo shoots, and lab nuea, which is Thai style steak tartare. - A.L.
