From Hanoi, With Love

Where Berlin - - Dining -

The hot, bustling alleyways of Vietnam’s capital city and its lively street food scene provide the inspiration behind District Mot. This dining spot in the heart of Mitte is less hot, less chaotic, but no less delicious than those Hanoi streets. The décor, right down to the plastic stools and kitschy napkin dispensers, is handpicked to set the scene, as is the extensive selection of tasty, traditional treats. The menu includes a wide range of small dishes like shrimp-stuffed rice paper rolls, spicy green papaya salad, and sticky, glazed pork ribs. The selection of main dishes is no less extensive, including a variety of pho noodle soups and tabletop barbecues with meat and seafood. Feeling daring? Go native with adventurous delicacies like chicken feet, crispy, buttered silkworms, or fried frogs’ legs. Or skip the worms and just head straight for a sweet Vietnamese coffee, prepared the traditional way with thick condensed milk. Rosenthaler Str. 62. T: 030 20089284. www.districtmot.com
