The Botticelli Renaissance
One of the greatest painters of the Renaissance is experiencing, well, a renaissance. Or so says the Gemäldegalerie (www.smb.museum, p. 47), where The Botticelli Renaissance will chart the extent of Sandro Botticelli’s influence from the 15th century to the present day. With over 100 works of European art, photography, and “pictures” that take notes from the iconic Florentine artist, the exhibition includes everything from an Andy Warhol silkscreen print to a provocative Cindy Sherman self-portrait to Botticelliesque paintings by masters like Magritte, Dante Rossetti, and Degas, as well as 20 never-before-displayed works by the old master himself. From 25 September until 24 January.
