PAINT AND PLAY
In town with the kids? Keep them entertained with our selection of creative activities!
To celebrate 16th-century German Renaissance painter Lucas Cranach the Younger’s 500th birthday, the Alice Museum for Children at the
Gemäldegalerie (p. 47) is hosting an interactive exploration of his most important works. With games, connections to the present, and even a life-sized hut to crawl around in, Pop-Up Cranach will leave kids – and adults – inspired. Opens 26 September and runs until December 2015. That inspiration will serve you well in one of the city’s hands-on pottery painting studios. Paint Your Style (www. paintyourstyle.de) lets kids (and adults!) design and paint their own ceramic pieces, which will be ready for pickup in one to three days. The Königliche Porzellan
Manufaktur (KPM, p.38) also lets kids get crafty. On Saturdays from 11am to 1pm, the shop at the royal porcelain manufactory shows kids how to paint porcelain pieces that can be fired and taken home that same day, giving parents time to browse KPM’s exhibitions, take a break in the KPM café, or even check out the nearby flea market along Straße des 17. Juni.
