Raise your glass – Oktoberfest is upon us, and Germans are ready to toast with a hearty Prost! Although the original Munich Oktoberfest is the country’s biggest and most impressive, bar none, Berlin’s version, now in its 64th year, is sure to quench your thirst if you can’t make it down south for the festivities. The Zentraler Festplatz (Kurt-Schumacher-Damm 207, www.berlineroktoberfest.de) near Tegel Airport will celebrate until 5 October with traditional Bavarian food and brews, while Alexanderplatz will be the city center’s go-to for Dirndls, sausage, and live music until October 12. The Spandauer Oktoberfest (Klosterstr. 3), although further afield, also promises a lively atmosphere to enjoy a liter of Löwenbräu on 8, 19, 25, and 26 October.
