Warm your­self from the inside out with a cup of Glüh­wein, hot red wine usu­ally spiced with cin­na­mon, cloves, star anise, and cit­rus. It’s so popular at Christ­mas mar­kets that many have spe­cially dec­o­rated cups, for which you pay a de­posit and get back upon re­turn or just keep the cup as a sou­venir. If you want an ex­tra kick, drink it mit Schuss (with a shot of rum). Or another vari­ant is the Feuerzan­gen­bowle, with the ad­di­tion of a rum-soaked su­gar­loaf set on fire and al­lowed to drip into the wine.
