Fares Buy tick­ets from ma­chines in the sta­tion, and be sure to val­i­date them in the posts next to the ticket ma­chines. Sin­gle tick­ets cost € 2.60, or 4-trip

tick­ets for €8.80, which you can val­i­date as you need. If trav­el­ing fewer than three train sta­tions or six bus or tram stops, buy a short-trip ticket for €1.50. Day tick­ets cost € 6.70 for un­lim­ited travel un­til 3am the fol­low­ing day, or if you are trav­el­ing with oth­ers, a small group ticket will get up to five peo­ple un­lim­ited travel for €16.20. For those stay­ing longer, a seven- day pass valid for seven con­sec­u­tive cal­en­dar days may be bet­ter value at € 28.80.

U-Bahn The un­der­ground sys­tem is ex­ten­sive. Most lines run ev­ery 5 mins (less fre­quently out­side work­ing hours), 4am–12:30am (re­placed by night buses out­side of th­ese times). The whole U- Bahn and S- Bahn net­work runs all night on week­ends.

S-Bahn The above- ground sys­tem is faster than the U- Bahn but less fre­quent. Trains run ev­ery 10–20 mins. Tim­ing and ticket rules ap­ply as above.

Pub­lic Fer­ries With a reg­u­lar BVG ticket you can also hop on one of the six pub­lic ferry lines. Most beau­ti­ful is the trip from Wannsee to the lakeside vil­lage of Kladow. It leaves ev­ery hour and takes about 20 mins.

Rail Travel

Deutsche Bahn is the na­tional rail­way company, in­clud­ing the Re­gional Bahn (RB) and Re­gional Ex­press (RE) trains, which op­er­ate around greater Berlin and Pots­dam. The In­ter­city (IC) and Euro­pean City (EC) trains travel fur­ther afield and in­ter­na­tion­ally., T: 0180.6996633 (toll num­ber).
