New Year's Resolutions

Where Berlin - - WELCOME TO BERLIN -

I hope your New Year was off to a great start, and that your list of resolutions is ready! Mine is, and I'd like to share it with you. It takes a bit of luck and lots of determination to achieve our goals, but with the help of all the wonderful activities and sights Berlin has to offer, I have the feeling that this year they won't get neglected! Let's start from the most obvious one: losing weight after all the holiday meals. Taking a long walk in the woods in glacial temperatures is a great calorie burner, especially if followed by a visit to the Liquidrom saunas (www.liquidrom.de), where you can sweat the leftover toxins away. Number two on my list is eating healthier food, which translates into eating more seasonal vegetables and using better ingredients. This means you'll be seeing a lot of me at Markthalle Neun, Berlin's trendiest indoor market, where young, local farmers congregate to present the best their gardens have to offer. In 2015, I also intend to spend more time with my friends, and I have selected a couple of cozy and chat-encouraging cafés: Barcomi's (Bergmannstr. 28), provider of Berlin's best lattes, and the scruffy (but delicious) Schwarzes Café (Kantstr. 148), reminiscent of the old West Berlin days – it's perfect for more involved history discussions. This year I also want to invest some time in doing something creative, which makes a trip to the Modulor art supply store (Prinzenstr. 85) a real must. And it won't be hard to fulfill my last resolution, being up to date with the latest fashion trends: Berlin Fashion Week is around the corner, and I just can't wait to discover what designers have in store for us this season.
