Where Berlin - - DINING -

When it’s a high- class, memorable meal you’re after, head to the Hotel Palace Berlin, home to the Michelin-starred First Floor restaurant. As would only be fitting for a place of this caliber, you’ll be in good hands here: chef Matthias Diether was named Berlin’s Master Chef in 2013 and Karina Appeldorn was awarded 2015’s pâtissier of the year by the famed French Gault Millau guide. Diether is renowned for his exacting standards and modern interpretations of French haute cuisine, making combinations as unlikely as blue shrimp, pumpkin and bergamot sing. The plush, elegant surroundings are offset by the highly modern platings of each dish – expect each course that arrives on your table to be a small work of (edible) art. The menu changes often, but this month brings a special opportunity to try some seasonal delicacies: celebrate Easter at First Floor from 3–5 April with a special five- or six- course tasting menu.
