A Cello Named Joe

Af­ter per­form­ing with the Lon­don Sym­phony Orches­tra and the New York Com­edy Club, and ap­pear­ing on stage with Aretha Franklin and Paul McCart­ney, mul­ti­fac­eted cel­list Re­becca Car­ring­ton and co­me­dian Colin Brown de­cided to get to­gether, both for love and for work, and moved to Kreuzberg, where they de­vel­oped the idea for their suc­cess­ful duo. – or trio, if we count Joe, Re­becca’s cello. On 19 May, the three will come to­gether at Bar Jeder Ver­nunft (p. 57) for Dream a Lit­tle Dream, an en­ter­tain­ing mix of com­edy and mu­sic. Tap your feet to med­leys in­clud­ing bits and pieces of songs by Madonna, The Bea­tles, Bach, and more, as well as the art per­form­ers’ own comic com­po­si­tions about Ber­lin life, in­clud­ing the Steuer­ber­ater Blues, about Ger­man tax con­sul­tants. This ex­hil­a­rat­ing show is per­formed in a mix of English, Ger­man, and the in­ter­na­tional lan­guage of mu­sic.
