Inventive Canal-Side Dining

Where Berlin - - DINING -

The leafy embankment along the Landwehrkanal is postcard-perfect, especially in the summer months, when the willow trees drape and sway along the water. The chic Spindler restaurant opened here only last December but already fits right in on this tony block. Head chef Nicolas Gemin came to Spindler after working in the Michelin-starred kitchen of Pauly Saal and now wows diners with upscale twists on German- European cuisine: Think cured salmon with beet pickles and ricotta, octopus and chorizo, or lamb shoulder with smothered Jerusalem artichokes. Prefer your water views by the light of day? Spindler also serves breakfast and weekend brunch. Take a seat in the restaurant's light-flooded interior or sunny yard and you’ll fall for the canal as if you were a native Berliner. Paul- Lincke- Ufer 42.
