Although unanimously regarded as one of the founders of modern abstract painting, Piet Mondrian started out in the Impressionist style of the Hague School, with his work being exhibited alongside now-legendary artists such as Cézanne and Picasso. After moving to Paris in 1912, Mondrian, increasingly influenced by Cubism, started to place greater emphasis on structure and organization, favoring bold lines and the simplification of landscapes and natural motifs into abstraction. showing at the Martin- Gropius- Bau (p. 42), follows the artistic beginnings and subsequent style developments of the iconic master of classic modernism. Since 1946, this Zehlendorf villa has organized contemporary art exhibitions that cover a wide spectrum of media and styles.
