With its star-stud­ded pedi­gree, Dót­tir was slated for suc­cess even be­fore it of­fi­cially opened its doors this spring. The hip Nordic hotspot is the latest pro­ject from Stephan Landwehr and Boris Rad­czun, the restau­ra­teurs be­hind both Miche­lin­starred Pauly Saal as well as Grill Royal, the up­scale steak­house that’s a renowned celebrity fa­vorite. The culi­nary mas­ter­mind in the Dót­tir kitchen is chef Vic­to­ria Elias­dót­tir, who cre­ates min­i­mal­ist yet bold dishes that pay homage to her culi­nary roots in Ice­land and Swe­den. Even at the age of 27, Elias­dót­tir’s dishes are con­fi­dent and cre­atively inspired, due per­haps in part to a strong artis­tic up­bring­ing – half­brother Ola­fur Elias­son is one of the stars of Ber­lin’s art scene. The menu changes weekly to take ad­van­tage of the sea­son's fresh­est pro­duce, with a strong em­pha­sis on fish, like At­lantic hal­ibut and cod de­liv­ered straight from the Baltic Sea. Look for­ward to dishes like mar­i­nated trout roe with pick­led onions and gar­den cress or crispy-skinned cod fil­let with pureed pars­ley root, and sa­vor a taste of the North. Mit­tel­str. 41.
