Berlin's best beauty spots will have you looking as fresh as a daisy.

Y ou may not feel it yet, at least here in Berlin, but spring is near. And while the first leaves on the trees may still be a month away, now is a good time to clean out our makeup bags, stock up on new colors, and prepare our skin, nails, and hair for their encounter with the long-forgotten rays of sun. For a haircut in pure Berlin style, JACKS Beauty Department (Kastanienallee 19, www-jacks-beautydepartment.de), founded by successful makeup artist Miriam Jacks, offers the latest 'dos and a variety of products from niche brands, as well as lots of beauty treatments, including makeup lessons and tips for those who need a little extra help. Wheadon beauty salon in Mitte (Steinstr. 15, www.wheadon.de) caters to both ladies and gents; in addition to skin treatments, quick brow styling sessions, and makeup services, Wheadon also specializes in pampering men with services such as clean shaves done the old-fashiond way, beard trims and washes, and revitalizing face treatments.

For the perfect manicure, make an appointment at the Catherine Berlin nail salon in Charlottenburg (Knesebeckstr. 35-37). Founded by beauty expert and cosmetics manufacturer Catherine Frimmel (pictured above), the salon offers exclusive and personalized nail treatments, from nail modeling with gel to classic manicures or more creative looks. Her salon is also the right spot for a relaxing and rejuvenating hand massage. This spring, Frimmel will be celebrating the season's freshness by stocking all dark colors away, and taking out a whole new palette of bright and vivid hues instead. Her Viva La Vida collection is inspired by the theme of travel, "with lilac to represent the happiness you feel when you visit a place for the first time, orange standing for the pleasure of traveling, and gold-brown reminding us of our purest dreams," she told Where Berlin.

Frimmel's cosmetics collection includes a wide range of products, from nail polish to makeup, lotions, and accessories. "I let the current international fashion trends bring me inspiration and advice. Color and patterns shape our lives, and I like to let myself get carried away by the colorful textures of India, or by the extravagant designs of Paris," she explains.

And since spring is all about reawakening our senses, why not also stimulate our olfactory cells with a visit to nearby Belle Rebelle on Bleibtreustr. 42 (www.bellerebelle.de)? Corinna MoslerJakobsohn, owner of this tiny but wellstocked shop, travels the world to select the best and most exclusive perfumes, including the legendary Acqua di Sale by Profvmvm, recalling the scent of the Mediterranean sea and inspiring sunny walks down the cliffs of, say, Elba Island.
