You can't judge a book by its cover, but does the same sen­ti­ment ap­ply to­wards vinyl records? From Nir­vana's iconic baby swim­ming un­der­wa­ter to The Bea­tles cross­ing Abbey Road, record cov­ers have spo­ken, or sung, to gen­er­a­tions of mu­sic lovers. Pre­sent­ing both clas­sic and lesser-known record cov­ers, the ex­hi­bi­tion To­tal Records, at C/O Ber­lin (p. 40) un­til 23 April, fol­lows the mu­sic and pho­tog­ra­phy his­tory of the 20th cen­tury, also show­cas­ing cre­ative cover col­lab­o­ra­tions such as those be­tween An­nie Lei­bovitz and Cindy Lau­per, Jeff Wall and Iggy Pop, Nobuyoshi Araki and Björk, and many oth­ers.
