Where Berlin - - ESSENTIALS -

The name of the Stadtmitte U-Bahn station is rather fitting: It literally means “city center,” which aptly describes the location of this busy transfer station in Mitte at the junction of Friedrichstraße and Leipziger Straße. The station’s long pedestrian tunnel connecting the U6 and U2 lines was bricked up from 1961–1990, as the former belonged to West Berlin and the latter to the East.
