Lo­cal bourse sinks back into the red

The lo­cal bourse cur­rently ap­pears in­ca­pable of sus­tain­ing a run of more than two ses­sions of gains, as it re­turned to a south­bound course yes­ter­day, while turnover also dropped.

The Athens Ex­change (ATHEX) gen­eral in­dex ended at 1,429.12 points, de­clin­ing by 0.39 per­cent from last Fri­day’s close at 1,434.65 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 in­dex dropped by 0.46 per­cent to end at 646.17 points. Nev­er­the­less, the small-cap FTSE/ATHEX 80 in­dex rose by 0.61 per­cent.

El­lak­tor led the blue chips with gains of 2.94 per­cent, ahead of Jumbo (up 2.57 per­cent) and OPAP (1.47 per­cent). Go­ing down were ATEbank (4.35 per­cent), Marfin In­vest­ment Group (4.23 per­cent) and Hel­lenic Post­bank (3.45 per­cent). Na­tional Bank gave up 0.19 per­cent.

In to­tal, 65 stocks moved up, 74 went down and 52 re­mained un­changed. Cen­tric Mul­ti­me­dia posted the big­gest rise with gains of 11.11 per­cent, while Au­dio­vi­sual led the losers, shed­ding 9.76 per­cent.

Turnover came to 56.7 mil­lion eu­ros, down from 64 mil­lion on Fri­day.
