Union­ists say PPC sell-off plans don’t stack up

and the pres­i­dent of the GENOP work­ers’ union, Nikos Fo­topou­los, yes­ter­day climbed a 174-me­ter smoke­stack at a power plant in Ker­atsini, west­ern Athens, to protest gov­ern­ment plans to sell off an­other 17 per­cent of the com­pany to pri­vate in­vestors. Union­ists say it will lead to higher elec­tric­ity bills.
