The victim of a road accident in the coastal suburb of Loutsa had to wait nearly an 90 minutes for an ambulance yesterday morning, officials at the National First Aid Center (EKAB) admitted. Earlier in the day, a pregnant motorist who had been involved in a car accident on the capital’s busy Vouliagmeni Avenue had to wait nearly half an hour for an ambulance to collect her. A spokesperson for EKAB attributed the delays to understaffing as employees are staging regular walkouts over cuts to pay and benefits.
