Employees on the Kifissia-Piraeus urban electric railway (ISAP) are to stage a walkout today from noon to 4 p.m. and will join tomorrow’s 24-hour general strike with a work stoppage from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to allow demonstrators to travel to central Athens for anti-austerity rallies. There will be disruptions on other forms of transport tomorrow too. Athens metro employees will hold a three-hour work stoppage from the beginning of their shift until 8 a.m. Bus services will operate between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. and trolley services from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Railway and suburban railway (Proastiakos) services will cease for the whole day. There will be some flight disruptions as air-traffic controllers, who originally had planned a 24-hour strike, stage a four-hour walkout from noon. Ferries will remain moored in port all day tomorrow, however, as seamen are to join the 24-hour action.
