The turnout at the elec­tions was re­port­edly lower than usual al­though some stu­dents ar­riv­ing to vote told re­porters that they were more mo­ti­vated by stu­dent union elec­tions than they would be by gen­eral elec­tions if snap polls were to be held. Politi­cians, who usu­ally ad­dress stu­dents on union elec­tion days, were con­spic­u­ous by their ab­sence this year as opin­ion polls point to a grow­ing frus­tra­tion with the po­lit­i­cal class.
