No complications for Kafkas
A 30-year-old demonstrator who sustained serious injuries after being beaten by police during an anti-austerity rally last week was in a stable condition yesterday, doctors said. Yiannis Kafkas is on a respirator in the intensive-care unit of the Nikaia General Hospital near Piraeus. Doctors there said it was encouraging that there have been no complications in Kafkas’s recovery. The three officers believed to have beaten Kafkas, and their supervisor, have been suspended.
