New deal for McDon­ald’s

McDon­ald’s Europe said yes­ter­day it has se­lected Malta’s Premier Cap­i­tal to de­velop its net­work in Greece in a bid to boost its pres­ence in the coun­try. Premier Cap­i­tal, which has been op­er­at­ing McDon­ald’s fast­food restau­rants in Malta, Es­to­nia, Lithua­nia and Latvia since 2005, will op­er­ate 19 com­pany-owned McDon­ald’s restau­rants in Greece, with the re­main­ing 11 branches in the coun­try be­ing kept by ex­ist­ing fran­chisees un­der cur­rent con­trac­tual agree­ments. ‘We are con­fi­dent that the agree­ment with Premier Cap­i­tal will help en­hance the McDon­ald’s brand in Greece, build the busi­ness over the long term and fur­ther strengthen the re­la­tion­ship with our cus­tomers,’ Steve Easter­brook, pres­i­dent of McDon­ald’s Europe, said in a state­ment. No fi­nan­cial de­tails were dis­closed. Premier Cap­i­tal, which op­er­ates 35 restau­rants across four coun­tries, will take own­er­ship and op­er­ate the 19-branch net­work as of June 1, the state­ment added.
