Details of 8,500 users stolen from firm’s website in Greece
Sony has confirmed that hackers penetrated the company’s servers in Greece, exposing the usernames, passwords, e-mails and phone numbers of 8,500 people. The hack affects users of the Sony BMG Greece site, where fans accessed artists’ websites to subscribe to newsletters. The breach did not involve any credit card details because the sites were free of charge, the company said. The website has been shut down. It is a further embarrassment for the company after hackers got into Sony’s PlayStation Network, affecting 100 million users’ accounts worldwide and several thousand in Greece.
