De­tails of 8,500 users stolen from firm’s web­site in Greece

Sony has con­firmed that hack­ers pen­e­trated the com­pany’s servers in Greece, ex­pos­ing the user­names, pass­words, e-mails and phone num­bers of 8,500 peo­ple. The hack af­fects users of the Sony BMG Greece site, where fans ac­cessed artists’ web­sites to sub­scribe to news­let­ters. The breach did not in­volve any credit card de­tails be­cause the sites were free of charge, the com­pany said. The web­site has been shut down. It is a fur­ther em­bar­rass­ment for the com­pany af­ter hack­ers got into Sony’s PlayS­ta­tion Net­work, af­fect­ing 100 mil­lion users’ ac­counts world­wide and sev­eral thou­sand in Greece.
