Police identify three suspects
Police said yesterday that they had arrested a 26-year-old Pakistani man for the murder and dismemberment of a fellow countryman in Athens in January. They added that they were looking for two more Pakistani nationals in connection with the case. The investigation was launched after the man’s head and legs were found at the Ano Liosia dump in northwestern Athens. The victim’s arms were found in dumpsters and his torso in an apartment in Ambelokipi, near the city center. The victim was 42 years old. Police did not name him but said that he was allegedly being held hostage by the three suspects who were demanding ransom money from the man’s father in Pakistan. Police discovered the victim’s torso after authorities were called to a fire at the apartment in Ambelokipi. Officers set the suspects set the fire to destroy any evidence linking to the alleged crime. The two suspects still at large are aged 22 and 34.
