cen­tral Greece, yes­ter­day cel­e­brated the com­ple­tion of a 6-kilo­me­ter­long road tun­nel, the largest in the Balkans. The pro­ject was fi­nally com­pleted fol­low­ing two years and nine months of in­ten­sive work, the com­pany man­ag­ing the pro­ject said. Work­ers were con­grat­u­lated by Ser­gios Labropou­los, gen­eral sec­re­tary of the In­fra­struc­ture, Trans­port and Net­works Min­istry. The Vale of Tempe, his­tor­i­cally one of the most dan­ger­ous stretches of the na­tional road net­work, has been the fo­cus of ex­ten­sive works in re­cent years.
