A group of 32 prominent personalities from the worlds of the arts and academia appealed yesterday to the country’s politicians to set aside self-interest and channel all their energies into extracting Greece from an unprecedented economic crisis. In a document titled “Dare,” the group, which includes artists, writers and composers, declared that “those who ignore the signs of the times in such a provocative fashion and insist in investing in destruction, with only their own personal and party gain in mind, will be held entirely responsible for the country’s collapse.” The signatories include poet Kiki Dimoula, composer Dionysis Savvopoulos, painter Alekos Fasianos, writer Apostolis Doxiadis and academic Nikos Alivizatos.
