Greek banks’ re­liance on Euro­pean Cen­tral Bank liq­uid­ity dropped for a fourth straight month in April, the coun­try’s cen­tral bank said. Len­ders bor­rowed a to­tal of 86.8 bil­lion eu­ros ($127 bil­lion) in the ECB’s re­fi­nanc­ing op­er­a­tions com­pared with 87.9 bil­lion eu­ros in March, ac­cord­ing to a state­ment posted on the Bank of Greece’s web­site yes­ter­day. “This is con­sid­ered pos­i­tive,” Pro­ton Bank SA an­a­lyst Vas­silis Rap­tis said by tele­phone yes­ter­day. “It re­flects the ef­forts by the Greek banks to grad­u­ally de­crease their ex­po­sure” as di­rected by Greece’s cen­tral bank and the ECB, he said.
